Tips for spotting fake M.U.S.C.L.E. Figures
I just posted a listing for the little rubber guys I have and forgot to mention that there is a great website for checking the colors of the genuine figures as well as getting tips for spotting fakes.
According to the M.U.S.C.L.E. Preservation Society, the main things you look at when determining a true M.U.S.C.L.E. Men Action Figure are:
1. Color - compare to online charts or to other figures you may own.
2. Degree of bendability - plastic should be hard.
3. The presence/clarity of the Y/S N.T. symbol on the back - if it isn’t clear or very deep, could be a fake.
4. Degree of detail to the molded faces and bodies. M.U.S.C.L.E. men toys were quite detailed.
If too bendable, lacking detail, missing the symbol or an off color, your M.U.S.C.L.E. men toys are likely to be fakes.

Note that we’re talking about U.S. versions from Bandai. The ones from Japan are called Kinnikuman and I’m not at all sure how you’d tell a genuine Kinnikuman M.U.S.C.L.E. figure. I read somewhere that the plastic used for Kinnikuman toys was diffeerent than that used by Bandai. However, I can’t find the website where I read that now…..
